Originally banduras were made with wooden tuning pegs. This was what was available in the village and is what they used. In the 20th century metal pegs began to becoem popular from about 1910 on. Metal pegs were made in various sizes. Some instruments had pegs the size of piano tuning pegs which were very heavy and cumbersome. Instruments made during WWII and just after often had bronze pegs without a thread which made pulling them out oft eh wrest plate very difficult.
Cuurently most instruments use standard zither or harpsichord pegs made of metal which in most cases have been chrome or nickel plated.
You can pick up autoharp or zither key from most music stores or have them order them from a catalogue.
There are a number of keys which you can select. The hole into which the peg goes in can be either square or octagonally star shape. The octagonal star holes tend to be better as they grip the peg more accurately and do little damage to the original peg. These tunign keys tend to be more expensive.
